Every year, the Telluride Playwrights Festival selects
a small group of playwrights to work with professional
writers, directors, actors, and dramaturges from all over the country as
they refine their work. This year's theme is Theatre Politicos as
plays focus on thought-provoking, hard=hitting and entertaining subjects
that explore the "personal as political."
To launch this year's festival, the Wilkinson Public Library will provide a free screening of Good Bye Lenin! on Wednesday, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. A film that take's place in 1990 during the collapse of East Germany, the story follows a son who tries
to protect his fragile mother from a fatal shock after a long coma. The
personal and political themes of this film explores how this young man
tries to keep his mother from learning that her beloved nation of East
Germany has disappeared.
