From its storied past to its surprisingly bright future, join flume expert Jerald Reid as he fits the pieces together for an evening of Lifelong Learning in celebration of the Historic Hanging Flume. His presentation will begin at 6:00 pm in the program room at Wilkinson Public Library on Wednesday, June 6th at 6:00 pm.
Jerald was born in Oklahoma and lived most of his life on the Western Slope of Co. Jerald was a machinist for 40 years in the Grand Valley. Jerald and his wife Margaret both love the outdoors. They became interested in the Hanging Flume and found little information on it. That started them researching and documenting it. They joined the Unaweep/Tabeguache Scenic and Historic Byway Council around 1990. Through their research and with grants acquired through the Byway Council they were instrumental in getting the Hanging Flume placed on the World's Watch List of the 100 most Endangered Places. Jerald has been giving slide shows and lectures about the Hanging Flume to a variety of organizations for the past 15 years.
