As part of the Building Common Ground grant, the Wilkinson Public Library is hosting a tour of historical community buildings with George Greenbank. Since 1970, George has served as an achitect in the Telluride area, and as a result, he has become an expert on how historical buildings have been used for community purposes. The quest of this tour is to examine how certain buildings help identify the spirit of our community.
Some questions that we will examine include:
How does a particular building identify the community and its various uses over time?
How has the architectural design influence a buildings use in the community?
What changes have occurred to the look and feel of buildings in the area that have been used for community events?
The tour is sure to be enlightening and entertaining. Interested patrons are invited to meet at the library at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6th. There will be a free lunch provided at the library following the tour. For more information please contact Scott Doser at sdoser@telluridelibrary.org.
