For those seeking a little poetry in
their diet, on Tuesday night, the Wilkinson Public Library will welcome poet
Rachel Kellum to the Talking Gourds series at 6:00 p.m. in the program
room. Talking Gourds is a free open-mic
and poetry performance that occurs on the first Tuesday of every month at the library.
At 5:30 p.m., hosts Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer and Art Goodtimes will sit down
with Rachel Kellum for an interview that explores her art and poetry.
Then at 6:00 p.m., the floor is open for those seeking an audience for their
words and ideas.
Rachel Kellum lives on the eastern plains of Colorado where she teaches writing, humanities and art classes at Morgan Community College. She also chairs the visual arts program of MCC's Center for Arts and Community Enrichment. Her poetry has been featured in several online venues, including Barnwood International Poetry Magazine, Four Corners Free Press, Blood Lotus, Slow Trains, The Telluride Watch, and others. In 2008 one of her poems was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Most recently, Rufous Press featured two of her poems in the international collection, Lush. Later this summer, Liquid Light Press will be publishing her first chapter book.
